Admission to the Graduate Program:
Students who are interested in joining our Quantum Spacetime research group are welcome to apply
for admission to the TIFR PhD program. Our Integrated PhD program admits students directly after their BSc
degree. Integrated students typically spend 6 years in TIFR and graduate with a PhD degree. PhD program
admits students after an MSc. PhD students typically spend 5 years in TIFR and also graduate with a PhD degree.
The admission procedure to both the programs consists of a written test that is administered across several
centers within India (usually in December). Based on their performance in this test, some candidates are invited
to visit TIFR to appear for an interview (usually in March/April). Successful candidates may be made
independent admission offers by the various departments and centers of TIFR, including the Department of
Theoretical Physics, of which the Quantum Spacetime research group is a part. For more information on

Course Work and Research
Integrated PhD/ PhD students typically spend 2.5/1.5 years on coursework. Students spend the rest of
their PhD engaging in original research in close collaboration with their supervisor and other members of
the Quantum Spacetime research group. See here

Stipend and Accommodation
The institute arranges for the accommodation of all graduate students at a nominal charge. Students also
receive a monthly stipend (approximately Rs. 28,000 a month).
